Pizza Hut's Got a New Number.
[12 Aug 2005] The advertising agency Tribu, takes its key concept from the
fact that the number nine is frequently though of as a big headed little guy.
Tribu starts out with its new client Pizza Hut, by making a very sticky commercial,
both by using the best CGI and a very contagious pop rock melody to inform
and remind audiences about it's new delivery phone number: 290-9595. Tribu
worked along with Marte's designers to create some outstanding characters
that would depict and relate to a well defined target audience. The characters
highlight the youthful attitude of the Pizza consumer. The idea behind using
3D animation emerges from the fact that good CGI sticks in the mind of audiences
and commercials featuring it are viewed with receptivity more times than other
commercials, which is very useful in trying to make the number stick. Victor
Miranda's jingle created in Martestudio's Primeramente studio, helps a lot
with its very memorable lyrics and the voice of Azul Violeta's lead singer
especially enhances it.
Three dudez are spending time together in a room, having fun today's style:
surfing the web, chating over the cel phone and practicing on the electric
guitar. The main dude is suddenly unable to focus on the screen due to his
stomach reminding him it is dinner time... he then sees these three delivery
guys with big heads making a spectacular entrance by riding their bikes along
his chaotic desk, stepping down and doing a small choreography after which
hey turn into three number nines that fit within the new number. The animation
process focused mainly on creating very likeable characters. The shading of
the skin was done carefuly to achieve a Pixar like skin. The environment required
an especially large number of props that wre all modeled havng in mind that
each one would have to be able to sasy somethng about the characters.
The entire piece was created in a record breaking 3 weeks (in which artsts
worked 24 hours a day). However, the subtle illuminations, the abundance of
props and the animation, all give an idea that this was a project with a lot
more time available.
